There are three Wrangler Unlimited trim levels to choose from, the Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon. Each of these models is outfitted with front and rear third-generation Dana 44 heavy-duty axles and a 3.73 axle ratio. Other features available throughout the Wrangler EcoDiesel trim lineup include automatic headlights, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, skid plates, cruise control, two hooks, smartphone integration, remote locking and unlocking, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and a USB port. These Wrangler models also come equipped with a fold-down windshield, removable full-metal doors, and a convertible soft- or hard-top roof.
Can you tell me about the EcoDiesel engine?
Under the hood of all four-door Wrangler models, you can find the brand-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6. This engine is rated to produce 442 pound-feet of torque and 260 horsepower. To handle the greater torque load, this engine is mated to a TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission that is calibrated for the on- and off-road rigors and low RPM shifts that come with Wrangler duties. In fact, there are more than 40 individual shift maps, optimizing shift points for 4x4 capability, performance, and economy. This engine also uses dual overhead camshafts with four-valves per cylinder and a compacted graphite iron block to dampen vibrations and provide strength. There are two transfer cases offered the Rubicon model exclusive Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case and the Command-Trac part-time two-speed transfer case.
