What are the powertrain options for the 2022 Jeep Cherokee?
As was previously mentioned, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee employs a standard 3.2L V6. This engine supplies drivers with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. In addition, a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine is an available option with 270 horsepower and an impressive 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. In addition, however, Jeep’s Active Drive 4x4 systems are available. Active Drive is available for the X and Latitude LUX trim. Active Drive 4x4 operates in front-wheel-drive while on normal road conditions. When more traction is needed, the system detects this need and engages the rear wheels to supply this additional traction. Active Drive II operates similarly but employs a two-speed transfer case with 4-Hi and 4-Lo modes, allowing drivers to match their traction with their speed. Lastly, Active Drive Lock is standard on the Trailhawk trim. Active Drive Lock takes Active Drive II and adds a rear locker to provide maximum capability while off-roading.
