This groundbreaking addition to the 2024 Dodge Hornet lineup comes in the form of the R/T trim, which showcases the brand's first-ever plug-in hybrid powertrain. This innovative setup combines a 1.3L turbocharged I-4 engine that drives the front wheels with an electric motor situated on the rear axle, powering the rear wheels. With the integration of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, the electric motor receives its energy. The result is a remarkable output of 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, including an instantaneous surge of 184 lb-ft of torque courtesy of the electric motor. In place of the standard nine-speed automatic transmission, the R/T trim is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission specially tailored to complement this electrified powertrain. Enhancing the performance capabilities, the R/T features steering wheel paddle shifters, Sport mode, and PowerShot. The PowerShot functionality delivers a 15-second burst of 30 extra horsepower, enabling the Hornet R/T to achieve an impressive 0-60 time of just 5.6 seconds!
