Jeep Wrangler Off-Road Capability

Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wranglers are known far and wide for two things unmatched off-road capability and open-air freedom. They inspire a sense of wanderlust and the need to explore the outdoors with the wind blowing through your hair. With renowned off-road capability, you’ll have no problem traversing the off-road, which can only lead to stunning views and a whole lot of fun. Want to know just how capable the 2019 Jeep Wrangler is? Then you’re in the right place. Simply follow along down below as we break down everything the Jeep Wrangler is made of.

For starters, the capability of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler is backed by over 75 years of 4x4 superiority. The Jeep Wrangler is currently available with your choice of three different highly-capable 4x4 systems. Right off the bat, you’ve got the adventurous Command-Trac 4x4 System. This system allows you to go anywhere and experience any adventure through its shift-on-the-fly system.

The Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case features a 2.72:1 low range perfect for rock crawling and neutral for towing so you can bring your boat along with you. The Jeep Wrangler Sport and Sahara models both come with this system along with a next-generation Dana front and rear axles.

Next, we have the available Selec-Trac 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case with full-time four-wheel drive. This system features the same 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio as the Command-Trac 4x4 system. The Selec-Trac system will automatically switch between 2WD and 4WD as road conditions change. The system will also send extra torque to the wheels with the most traction so you can easily conquer mud, snow and everything in between. The Smart Lock system that comes with the Selec-Trac 4x4 system will keep your Jeep in 4WD while your out on the trail or trying to drive in harsh road conditions.

Last up is Jeep’s renowned Rock-Trac 4x4 system which comes standard on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The system features a two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. Rubicon models equipped with a manual transmission are capable of a crawl ratio of 84:1. You’ll also find electric front and rear locking differentials, next-generation Dana front and rear heavy-duty axles, a disconnecting front sway bar, off-road rock rails, and 33-inch BF Goodrick KM All-Terrain tires on the Rubicon which makes this model tough as nails.

The entire Trail-Rated 2019 Jeep Wrangler lineup comes with a best-in-class approach angle of 44 degrees. You’ll also get a break over angle of 27.8 degrees with the Wrangler and a departure angle of 37 degrees. You’re also going to get a ground clearance of 10.9 inches so you can make it up and over any terrain.
