4x4 Systems of the Grand Cherokee Bedford Hills NY

The 2019 Grand Cherokee features a diverse selection of powertrains and features that can outfit the SUV for a multitude of different tasks. With each type of powertrain offered with the Grand Cherokee, Jeep understands that having a drivetrain that can transfer power effectively throughout the vehicle is crucial to earn high marks in performance. With the 2019 Grand Cherokee, Jeep offers four different 4x4 systems; an easy to use Quadra-Trac I system, the low-range Quadra-Trac II system, a Quadra-Drive II system that pushes the boundaries of off-road capability, and the Quadra-Trac SRT system that wields and applies the top engine power Jeep has to offer.

Quadra-Trac I 4x4 System
Looking to establish a solid baseline for all-wheel drive systems, Jeep brings in the Quadra-Trac I. This 4x4 system splits the power nearly evenly between the front and rear axles working in a full-time, high-range mode automatically. The drivetrain utilizes this balanced power distribution throughout in conjunction with the brake lock differential to handle adverse conditions well. The automatic operation of this system on a single transfer case does not require input from the driver to make use of the 4x4’s ability to better establish traction.

Quadra-Trac II 4x4 System
The Quadra-Trac II operates as an active full-time 4x4 system offering enhanced traction with a near equal torque split between front and rear axles. The traction of each wheel is monitored electronically, and if lost the system can transfer up to 100% of the torque to either axle; this two-speed transfer case utilizes this active torque balancing to offer a 2.72:1 low range ratio. This system also comes optional with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system, giving four different modes of torque configuration depending on what terrain you are exploring through.

Quadra-Drive II 4x4 System
Jeep’s legendary off-road capability comes full circle with the Quad-Drive II 4x4 system; coming out of the gate, this configuration comes paired with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system allowing you to have a smooth on-road experience and easily manage snow, sand/mud, rock, and other terrain challenges. The Quadra-Drive II utilizes an active electronic transfer case with a rear electronic limited-slip differential to automatically establish traction quickly and effectively; when traction is lost, this 4x4 system can reconfigure the torque to specific axles passing power from the engine to the wheels that have the most traction.

Quadra-Trac SRT 4x4 System
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Trackhawk models come equipped with powertrains that command a presence on and off the roadway; in order to be able to effectively utilize the immense power output of these engines, Jeep brings in the Quadra-Trac SRT 4x4 System. Utilizing a large mechanical wet clutch and rear electronic limited slip differential allows for this 4x4 system to redistribute the titanic engine power and torque outputs to specific wheel(s) offering traction and performance in any driving condition. As with the other enhanced 4x4 systems, the Quadra-Trac includes Jeep’s Selec-Track System to allow you to configure the base torque distribution to specialize for specific forms of terrain from the start.

Jeep has established a legacy of performance with its legendary off-road capability they bring to each of their vehicles brought to the market. This in a large part is thanks to Jeep’s supreme 4x4 all-wheel drive systems they bring to their lineup. With the 2019 Grand Cherokee, Jeep brings in the necessary drivetrain systems in order to be able to utilize the potential of each engine pushing top notch performance across the board.
